Rudy John is an enthusiast in the Netherlands who has been practising bonsai for over 20 years. Originally a member of the Swiss Bonsai Federation, he is now an active member of the Dutch Bonsai Association in the section of 'Midden Nederland'

This Forsythia was taken as a cutting in 1984 from a shrub in Rudys garden. This picture was taken in the Spring of 2000 after 17 years of training.

In training since 1985, when I purchased the tree, just imported from Japan packed in sphagnum moss in a plastic bag. The picture on the left is taken in 1993 and on the right is the tree in August 2002.

 35cm tall, width 27cm, trunk diameter at base is
4½cm, age 35 years.
