Notes on using the Bonsai Species Guides

The Bonsai4me.mobi species guides are concise versions; for more details on a species for bonsai, visit the full Bonsai4me.com website

There are a large number of tree and shrub species that can be used for bonsai; this guide lists the more popular species only.

These Species Guides are written from a European (UK) perspective with temps no warmer than 35°C and no colder than -10°C. For warmer or colder climates, extra care must be taken when trees are subjected warmer or colder temperatures than stated in this guide.

I have rated each species according to ease of cultivation; the ease with which the species can be simply kept alive and healthy. Each species is also rated according to it's ease with which it can be styled; it's responsiveness to bonsai techniques, back budding and root pruning.

Note that all species listed are suitable for bonsai; 'low scoring' species may simply be less straightforward to look after or to style, but none are beyond the skills of all enthusiasts prepared to research each species' growthhabits and care.

These guides have been placed in alphabetical order of each species' Latin Name.
