The next foliage layer is styled and excess growth is trimmed off.
The top is now wired into place. Juniperus prostrata

A year later, when the jin had dried out, Robert first soaked, steamed and heated them and then produced a more delicate shape by bending them downwards, into the body of the image, to reflect the foliage mass. (Salvatore had suggested either doing this or cutting off some of the jin at a later date). The bonsai pot is Korean and mid-grey in colour. The foliage is starting to develop well and, in response to Robert's steady hand, the bonsai should become a masterpiece within the next four years.
