August 2011: Many trees responded well to the warm, sunny Spring in the UK and flowered and berried prolifically this year. My Crataegus monogyna/Common Hawthorn was no exception and was covered in red berries (or haws) by mid-August
Height 42"/102cm Collected by myself in 2005

August 2011: At the end of August back in Faisal Waheedys garden I restyled a Satsuki Azalea (Top image) Though the tree had a nice silhouette, the actual branch structure was badly faulted where the previous owners had simply treated the tree as topiary. (Below) The restyled Satsuki Azelea bonsai after reducing the multiple-primary and secondary branches, removing straight and heavy sections of branches and hours of wiring.

September 2011: In early September I began writing the follow up to my first book 'Bonsai Inspirations' and I decided that the Cotoneaster would make a suitable subject for the cover images for the next book!
